A homegoing funeral mass for Mrs. Pearlyne Louise Wilson of Tampa, will be held on Wednesday, June 14th, 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1203 N. Nebraska Ave, Father Hugh Chikawe, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Pearlyne L. Wilson was born on December 21, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the eldest of 11 children born to C.W. and Rosa Lee Perkins. She went home to be with the Lord June 7, 2017 where she joins her beloved husband Edward and son Anthony.She moved with her family to Bay City, Michigan. She was a gifted student athlete excelling on the debate team and playing field hockey for Bay City Central High School. She received an academic scholarship to Aquinas College where she attended for 2 years. She used this time to sharpen her aptitude for music studying voice and music. She left school moving to New York where she met and married Edward F. Wilson. They were married 48 years, to this union they had 4 children, Gregory, Mark, Katherine and Anthony. The family relocated to Detroit, Michigan. While raising her children Pearlyne returned to school completing a B.S degree in Special Education at Wayne State University in Detroit. She was recruited and subsequently worked for the Detroit School System. She and Edward moved to Tampa where they built a home. She resumed her teaching career with the Hillsborough County School System. Pearlyne and Edward joined St Peter Claver, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver and also a lector. She served on a variety of church related projects and served as a mentor and inspiration to some of the children at St. Peter Claver School, where she volunteered. Pearlyne was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and son Anthony. Pearlyne leaves behind 3 children, Gregory Q. Wilson (Brenda), Dr. Mark E. Wilson (Karen Livingston-Wilson Esq.) and Katherine F. Carey (Rev. Aaron Carey); grandchildren, Jessica, Greg Jr. and Mark, Jr.; her siblings, James Perkins, Juanita Dungey, Shirley Rogan, Harris Perkins and Barbara Peterson;a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Wednesday for the service.
