A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Phyllis Ann Murray of Tampa, Florida who went to eternal rest on Saturday, April 29, 2017 will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd., Associate Pastor, Jeremiah Dudley, of New Life Tabernacle officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Phyllis Ann Murray was born in Cleveland, Ohio September 10, 1955 to the late Amos Murray, Sr. and Frances Murray Underwood. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Pastor Samuel Phillips, Sr. She was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost at the early age of 12 at Christ Temple Pentecostal Jesus Only Church, Pastor Samuel Phillips, Sr. She married Ronald Braxton and gave birth to two loving children. In 1975, Phyllis moved with her family to Tampa, Florida, later she moved to Savannah, GA and lived there until she became ill and her son and mother brought her back to Tampa until her demise. Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Samuel Phillips, Jr., Amos Murray, Jr., Francine Thomas, Janice Phillips and Fredrico Phillips. She leaves her loving memories with her children, Denise Braxton-William and Samuel Braxton (Patsy); mother, Frances Underwood; sisters and brothers, Natalie Jacobs, Patrice Ross (Bobby), Annie Pittman (Anthony), Robert Phillips and Ammie Smith (Raymon) and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and a loving church family at New Life Tabernacle UPC where she was a member. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday May 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
