Funeral services for Sister Rayzetta E. Dillon of Tampa who passed away, Wednesday, March 21, 2012, will be held, Saturday, March 31st, at 10:30 a.m., at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Rev. Sandra Maria Bell, officiating with Rev. Janet O. Lee, eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sister Rayzetta E. Dillon was born in Ocala, Florida (Marion County) to Caldwell and Amelia Melvin. Sister Dillon was raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a long time resident of Tampa, Florida. She was married to the late Willie H. Dillon, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2002. She was a life-long member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, where she was a faithful member of the Usher Board #1 and Lay Organization. She attended Middleton Adult High School in Tampa, Florida and later attended the Sunlight Beauty Culture School, also located in Tampa, Florida. After she successfully completed cosmetology school in the mid 1960's she then later followed with her apprenticeship. Feeling confident to be on her own she opened her own beauty salon in the early 1970's "Ray and Kate's Beauty Salon", which remained open for over 25 years. The Bronner Brothers Hair Show was her favorite professional event and she traveled extensively nationally and internationally. She continued doing hair from her home until she finally accepted that she could retire. She exuded class and sophistication with everything she touched. She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories with her children, William H. Dillon III, Delenia O. Dillon, Anthony W. Dillon, Sr., and Sorrenia N. Dillon of Boston; grandchildren, Tanja P. Spence and husband, Ferris, Natoshia T. Dillon of Kansas City, MO, Anthony W. Dillon, Jr. and Chase C. McCreary of Boston; siblings, Caldwell Melvin of Cleveland, OH, Katie Felton, Moses Jacobs and wife, Althea, Mary Lou Lynum, Mildred Gaither, Rudolph Jacobs, Cornel Jacobs and Almeta Williams, all of Florida; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a special cousin, Trunell Paul in addition to a host of friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive guest from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
