Obituary

A homegoing celebration for Deaconess Regainer Gibbons affectionately known as 'Baby Sister' of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 11:00 a.m. at New Friendship M.B. Church, 3201 E. Lake Avenue, Rev. H. L. Daniels pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Deaconess Regainer was born and raised in Greenwood, Florida, moved to St. Louis, Missouri and later settled in Tampa, Florida. Regainer loved her family, to shop, travel and enjoyed working with the Head Start Program as a foster grandparent. She was baptized at an early age and joined the Hoskie Baptist Church, Greenwood, Florida. She was a member of New Friendship M.B. Church and remained a faithful member until her homegoing. She retired after many years of service from Hillsborough County School System. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Barnes; adopted parents, John and Bessie Ferrell; sisters, Alice, Mary and Martha Barnes, Mary Smith, Vera Lewis and Pellie Brown; mother-in-law, Lois Williams; sister-in-law, Mary Washington and brother-in-law, Joe Gibbons, Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her husband, Elijah Gibbons; children, Jacquelyne Brown (Donald), Frederick Barnes (Ruth), Reginald Cusic (Kimberly), Belinda Brown (fianc, Geremi), Leon Cusic (Wakena) and Bridgette Cusic; grandchildren, Dwanayshia, Fredrick, Jr., Michael, Donovan, Winifred, Brandon and Alisha; great grandchildren, Ayshiona, Jeremiah, Jr., Jada, Terrance, Jaden and Jalynn; sisters, Ora McGivery, Ruthie Barnes and Ella Williams; sisters-in-law, Carol Mathis (Billy) and Ethel Chapman; aunt, Betty Harvey; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; god-daughters, Tasha and Angeletta; church family, Rev. H.L. and Sis. Daniels, Dea. and Sis. Johnson, Min. and Sis. Harris and Min. and Sis. Green. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
