Obituary

With profound sadness and abiding faith, we announce the passing of Rev. Dr. Willie J. Haynes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend. Rev. Haynes entered the presence of the Lord on July 21, 2026, at the age of 79. Born and raised in Lakeland, Florida, Rev. Haynes accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the late Rev. C. H. Bolden, he served faithfully as a junior deacon before answering God’s call to ministry in 1966. Throughout his ministry, Rev. Haynes dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, encouraging the faithful, and serving others with compassion, humility and devotion. His steadfast faith, heartfelt sermons and love for God’s people touched many lives.

On December 14, 2024, Rev. Haynes was united in holy matrimony with Alma Haynes. Together, they shared a home grounded in faith, love and mutual devotion. He will be remembered for his wisdom, integrity, gentle spirit and willingness to help those in need. Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in the blessed assurance that Rev. Haynes is at home with the Lord. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7 KJV.
