Robert J. Connor, Jr.,was born November 28, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to the late, Robert J. Conner, Sr. and Gertrude Welch Conner. He enjoyed going on cruises, traveling and was a talented saxophone player. He enlisted in the New York National Guard on September 5, 1956. He later enlisted and retired from the United States Marine Corps after over 30 years of service to his country, where he received many awards and decorations for his bravery and dedication. After retirement he worked as a security officer, bus operator and owned a travel agency. He was known for always saying, 'Have a nice day'. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Meta Welch and brothers, Joseph N. and Jacob E. Connor. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Alice B. Hayes; children, Robert Joseph Connor, Kenneth Anthony Connor, Carmela Mayo (Keith), Jason Miller and Robin Smiley; step-daughter, Jacqueline Hayes; grandchildren, Dominique Hill Connor, Robert Jamaal Simms, William Robert Boyd, Jr., Asia Monique Boyd, Jaden Lamont Thomas, Beyonce Miller, Janon Nasir Thompson,Jason Miller, Jr., Christopher, Natane and Jachari Smiley; great grandchildren, Soniya Armani, Aria Rain and Azia Kingli Boyd; step-grandchildren, Niasha S., Akeim S. and Wisdom Imani Hayes; niece, Shirley Ellis; nephew, Anthony Connor; and a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.
