This obituary is lovingly submitted in honor of Robert Anthony Johnson, age 57, who passed away on September 19, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. Born on December 10, 1966, in Englewood, New Jersey, to the late Marilyn J. Johnson and Harold Emory, Tony's life was full of love, dedication, and passion.
Tony attended public schools in Englewood until junior high, after which he moved to New Kensington, Pennsylvania. There, he graduated from Valley High School, where he was a star football player and team captain, showcasing a lifelong passion for sports. He later earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Daytona Community College.
Affectionately known as Rob or Tony, he was known for his gentle kindness and boundless energy. In 1984, he began his service in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably and developed a profound sense of duty and pride. After his military service, Rob pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and love of physical fitness, while nurturing a passion for DJing. His musical talents touched many lives. Rob was deeply dedicated to fitness. In addition to maintaining his own physical training, he worked as a personal fitness trainer and eventually owned and operated several gyms. He later set up a home gym, where he felt most comfortable.
Known for his love of hosting gatherings, Rob brought friends and family together, energizing every event with his love for music as a revered DJ. His lifelong hobbies included collecting comic books and vinyl records. Rob's personal life was filled with love and strong family bonds. He enjoyed traveling, frequently visiting relatives in the northeast, and always made time to call his loved ones during the holidays. He and his wife, Nathalie, shared a passion for cruising and traveling, particularly to the Caribbean. Rob remained close with his aunts, Jewel McKee and Renee Warren, speaking with them nearly every day to share life updates and treasured memories. He also maintained deep friendships with many, including Julio, Dan, Roderick, and Jermaine.
He leaves behind a loving family: wife, Nathalie Jabouin; children, Robert A. Johnson Jr., and Jordyn and Kayla Johnson; his stepdaughters, Pascale, Gaelle, and Giselle Denson; grandchildren, Amias and Alaia; sisters, Robin Skipwith and Shevonne Brookins-Cooke; brother, Hassan Emory, Sr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. His legacy of kindness, joy, and community will be cherished by all who knew him.
