Mrs. Roberta Burks was born on August 28, 1922, in Waycross, Georgia, to the late Lucy and Eugene England. Mrs. Burks was the owner of Burks Boarding Home and has taken care of people all of her life. Upon coming to Tampa, she found more family from the love she showed others. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Crawford Burks; children, Lula McDowell and Joann Willis; sister, Janie Thornton and nephew, Crawford McDowell. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Daniel Burks, Gloria Faye Spike (Reuben Green), Helen Simmons, Johnny Hodgeson, Patricia Jackson, Abraham Ruffin, Merriett Simmons (Wanda), Danny Ruffin, Shawn (Reia) Tambie, Phillip Lakeman, Joseph Willis, and Paul Anderson; grandchildren, Dalphne McDowell, Rolinda McDowell, Fabrena McDowell, Quiana Roberta Spires, Skura Harper (Terrence), James Delain, Sammy Spires, Cindy Robinson, Sylvia Willis and James Willis; great grandchildren, Marcus Delain, Trev'on Robinson, Ciara Robinson, Leon Bright, Sr., Darria Pinkney, Latrice Chisum, Samuel Spires, Salea Spires, Jermaine Michael, Sabrina, Peaches and Johnny Jameson, Leon Bright, Roberta Bright, Syria Bright, Lenyra Bright, Eunice Marshall, Ryen Jackson, Rashaunda Chisum, Kevin Cane and Donna Chisum; nieces, Bobbie McCloud, Mary Russ and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 1st from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel at 1:45 p.m. for the service on Saturday.
