Rodney, affectionately known as "Mike" was born on August 21, 1953 to Deacon Edmund and Deaconess Beatrice Lasing. Rodney was a devout member of First Baptist Church, where he blessed many with his gift to sing, he also served on the Security Team. He was also a family man who enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.

Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Kay Lasing; his parents: Deacon Edmund and Deaconess Beatrice Lasing; sister, Barbara Jolly; brother, James L. Stevens, Jr.; and grandparents, Grady and Ruby Homer.

Rodney leaves to cherish his fond memories with his children, Angelina Harebin (Darren) and Kevin Center Sr. (Kesha); grandchildren, Brittnee White, Brianna Young, Monica young, Kevin Center, Jr. "KJ" (Mikes special Buddy), and Kaiden Center; siblings, Min. Sheryl Smalls (Levi), Sharrel Carter (Wayne), Bettye Upshaw (Pastor Carnell Upshaw),and James Leroy Stevens (Martha); sister-in-law, Patricia Stevens; nieces and nephews, Sharla Jenkins (Donald), Anika Bronson (Alvin), Marcus (Yolanda), Asha Smalls, Adrian Lasing, Sr. (Marice), Larry Yeoman (Laurie), Gail Snell, Ruben Yeoman, Jr.(Sharwyn), Sabrina Henry (Robert), Darleanette Parker (Raymond), Bartholomew Bostic (Leticia), Tangila Hymes, Aneus Stevens (Veronica), Stephanie Stevens, Benicia, California, Marcel Joseph, Union City, California Antione Stevens (Tineeshia), Fort Worth, Texas, Reginald Stevens, Orlando, FL, Paula Watkins (Pastor Dominic) and Katrina Center; and a host of loving great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, special friends, The ICU Unit at TGH; and The First Baptist Church of College Hill Family, Rev.
