The Homegoing Services for Sister Rosa Pearl Jones of Tampa, Florida who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2016, will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Progressive M. B. Church, 2607 E. 24th Ave., Rev. Albert Gallmon, Jr., pastor officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. She was born February 4, 1941 to the late Ezekiel and Viola Buchanan in Tuskegee, AL. She was educated in the public school system of Hillsborough County in Tampa, FL. After many years of employment, she retired from Singleton Seafood in Tampa, FL. Rosa's walk with Christ began at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Auburn, AL., where she was baptized at an early age. She was united in marriage to late Sam Jones and they were blessed with five children. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music and playing cards with her family. She was preceded in death by husband, Sam Jones; parents, Ezekiel and Viola Buchanan; brothers, Ezekiel Buchanan, Jr., Randolph Winston and sister, Minnie Pitts. She leaves a loving family to cherish her fond memories: 3 sons, Sirjames 'Willie' Buchanan (Gentry), Sam Jones III and Robert Bradwell, Jr.; 2 daughters, Katrene Slaughter (Sheldon) and Florence Jones (Murphy); 13 grandchildren, Ricky Graham (Shawn), Purvis Sealy (Theresa), Marlena Sealy (James), Nathaniel Sealy, Semmie Sealy, Sheldon Slaughter, Bernard McCloud, Trentavia Harris, Marquessa Jones, Julie Crawford, Krysta Buchanan, Tenisha Foye, Andreco Huntley and Quardarius Huntley; 19 great-great-grandchildren, Rickeemia, Ricky, Rickeria, Rickal, Kyra and Rickeem Graham, Travis Jones, Norvis Heflin, Avianna Miller, Ja'Kyla Grady, Donte Miller, Jr., Janilah Grady, Kimara Slaughter, I'zayle Concepcion, Marcus Wynn, Jr., Semauri Sealy, Andreco, Jr., Brook, and Payton Huntley; great-great-great grandchild, Jayla Graham; 3 sisters, Barbara B. Evans (Roy), Montgomery, AL, Rachael Pate, Chicago, IL and Alberta Bogan, Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, Robert Griffin (Gloria); goddaughters, Nicole October, Y'Keshia Caswell and Yolando Singleton; significant other, Michael Hunt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
