Homegoing service for Mr. Reuben McAllister of Tampa who passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011, will be held on Saturday, December 10th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. M. L. King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Jerome Shaw of Kingdom Purpose International Church of Sanford, Florida, officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, December 11th. Reuben was born in Columbia, Alabama to the late Sam McAllister and Carrie Smith McAllister. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Bernice McAllister; son, Rodney McAllister; grandchildren, Ta'Ney and Renee Merritt; great grandchildren, Jelaini Byrd, Chris'Zavin Jenkins and Cedric Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth Rogers and Christine McAllister, Tampa, Maurine Short and Ruthie McAllister, Dothan, Alabama, Carrie McAllister, Cleveland, Ohio and Doris Trawick of Bellevue, Washington; brother, Walter McAllister, Tampa; sister-in-law, Ella McAllister, Brandon, Florida; brothers-in-law, David Helms (Pennia) and Joseph Helms (Essie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
