April 27, 1946 – June 13, 2020
A Homegoing Celebration for Rubin Henry Hawkins of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 will be held Saturday, June 20th at 4:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Minister Ernestine Robinson, officiating. Rubin was a man's man who marched to the beat of his own drum! He was full of life and energy. He loved music and dancing. He was loved by many for his humor and zest for life. Rubin was a native of Tampa and proudly worked for Woodruff and sons for over 30 years. His number one love of his life was his Baby, his wife, Barbara. Rubin was a child of God. He was previously a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. At his passing he went to meet his savior. We mourn his passing, but know he is in the arms of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Hawkins Sr. and Annie Hawkins, brother, Ivy Hawkins, sisters Ossie Brown, Sarah Wesley and Minnie Lee Hawkins. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife, Barbara Hawkins; children, Thracey Hawkins (Bill Wilson), Kim Hawkins-Williams (Trent), Dahlgren Hawkins, Amber Lamar, Tasha Hawkins, Oscar 'Doug' Olds (Shae), Faith Pullen (Stanislaus); bonus children, Jimmie Marshall, Lisa Sims, Loretta Marshall; grandchildren, Misty, Nadia, Teia, Tiahna, Devonte, Amari, Sachia, Rev. Antonio, Maressa, Antwan, Marquis, Jenae, Shayla, Joshua, Jessica, Fred Jr. and Charity; great-grand, Aidan; brother, Samuel Hawkins and sister Delores Barton; special friends, Latoya Hodge, Netta Thompson and John Arnold; a host of relatives and friends.
