Ms. Ruby Dean Townes was born to the late Alston Hayes and Pearl Hodges on October 27, 1937. She is the eighth child out of nine children. Leaving home at an early age, she found her residency in Florida. She took a job with Crown Windows and stayed there for 10 years until she retired. In 2010, she left Florida and headed to Mississippi. There she stayed with her big sister until her passing in 2012. Ruby left Mississippi in 2013 to return to Florida, the only place she called home, surrounded by her friends. Ruby found a true woman of God in Ms. Gloria Sterrex. A true friend who was always there when she needed a prayer, a helping hand, or just some words of encouragement. A true friend she was until Ruby took her last breath.

Preceding her in death; sisters, Corrine Goodson, Ruby Lee Woodard, and Lucille Hodges, and four brothers, Abraham Hodges, Willie Townes, Earnest Hayes, and Jimmy Lee Hodges.

Ruby leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Wanda Coleman (Toefeild Coleman, Jr.), and Demetra Townes ( Stephanie Townes Shepherd) of Houston, TX.; brother, Henery Lee Townes (Rosemary Townes), of Reading PA; grandchildren, Contessa Townes Lucas and Santini Townes, both of Houston, TX; great-grands; Ja'Kayla (Juber Alomia) of Houston, TX, Genesis Townes, Santini Townes, Jalen Townes, and Tyrone Ford; godson, Jermaine Morgan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
