Obituary

"Brooks", as he was known to many, was born on April 15, 1945, to the late Dora Lee Green and Hinton Brooks. He graduated from Blake and Middleton High School in Hillsborough County where he was known as "Yogi". He was then drafted into the United States Army, and received many awards, ribbons, and service bars during his 23 years and 11 days of service. He was also an expert rifleman. On September 30, 1990 he retired honorably with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Brooks enjoyed fishing, grilling, swimming, laughing, and playing tricks on others for laughs. He was loved dearly by his neighbors and the many friends he met along his journey. Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chadwick Crawford; brothers, Herbert and Alphonso King, and Hinton Brooks Simmons; sisters, Catherine Brooks and Jeanette Battles; uncle, Luther Jones; and cousins, Inez and Jerome Brister. He leaves to cherish his memories with his devoted wife of 43 years, Ruth Crawford Brooks; daughters, Alesia Brooks and Tarkesha Porter (Russell); son, Russell Crawford; eleven grandchildren including Rushawn Porter; nineteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sherron Bell (Rudy), and Ella Rivers (Stanley); brothers-in-law, Mickey Crawford, Ray Charles Stapleton (Sandra), Matthew and David Williams, and Danny Stapleton.
