Obituary

Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Rupert Jackson "Boleg" of Tampa who passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, will be held Saturday, May 23rd 2:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd, Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Rupert was born August 16, 1930 to the late Thomas Adolphus Jackson and Phillbertha Gouldbourne in Clarendon, Jamaica. "Boleg" enjoyed fishing and spent over 40 years in Tampa. He worked most of his life working in construction. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Shirley Jackson; children, Veronica Jackson, Coline Jackson, Antonio Johnson, Derrick Johnson and Curtis Johnson; adopted daughter, Shakera Simmons; godson, Sinico Hall; grandchildren, Jamine Taylor, Melanesha, Tercel, Terell, Jamali, Shirley Jamal, and Quinton, and a host of other grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers in Jamaica; sister, Winnie Jackson (Ron); uncle, Jessie T. Henderson; 12 nieces; 12 nephews; cousins, Maudlyn Brown and Barbara; mother-in-law, Naomi Fernandez; sisters-in-law, Rose, Sonie Roper, Beverin Roper and Daisey Jones; brothers-in-law, Ronnie, L.C. Roper, Charles Jones, Anthony Roper and Risdell Roper. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, May 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
