Ruth was born February 16, 1929, in Walterboro, South Carolina. Ruth worked at the University of South Florida for over 32 years as a custodian. After retirement from USF, she worked part-time at Dillard's, with her sister right by her side. When she left Dillard's! She enjoyed shopping and having yard sales.

She was a member of New Progress MB Church for over 40 years. Ruth loved helping when she could and wasn't scared to tell you when someone gave her a compliment on her outfits her reply would be "I Know"! She and her only sister (Alvertis) were inseparable and the queens of dresses and hats!

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maude Chisolm; sons, Ronald Magwood and Anthony Magwood; sister, Alvertis Williams; granddaughters, Yolanda Ellis Muhammad Latanya Magwood and Michele Gadson; brother-in-law, Jimmy Lee Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Vernette Magwood Ellis and Sandra Magwood; son, Jerome Magwood; grandchildren, Kenneth Ellis, Roosevelt Ellis, Jr., Donnell Ellis, Carlton Ellis, Jermaine Ellis, Lorenzo Magwood (Zahra), Derrick Magwood, and Jermaine Magwood, Antonio Kennedy, Andre Magwood, Renea Ellis, Regina Wright, Tammy Pimienta, Tomieka Pimienta, Antoinee Magwood, Bridget Wright, Myia Magwood, Ronald Duff, and Ericka Duff; niece, Lou Meral Kirby; nephew, Tolbert Williams; cousins, Melvin Magwood (Tracey) a host of great-grandchildren; great great-great-grandchildren; special thank you to caregiver, Sarah Wilson.
