Obituary

Homegoing services for Mr. Samuel Morris Gilmore, Sr., of Tampa who passed away, Thursday, November 29, 2012, will be held Saturday, December 8th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Cornelius Golden, officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Samuel Morris Gilmore, Sr. was born May 16, 1951 in Cameron, South Carolina to the late Cyrus Gilmore, Sr. and Daisy B. Gilmore. Samuel was a United States honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy. Samuel loved to go fishing, doing yard work, watching football and debating anything you would want to talk about. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Tamara Mullins. He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories with his devoted wife, Edith Gilmore; children, Samuel Gilmore, Jr. (Misty Sandlin), Donnie Cobb, Arrion Cobb and Chantrelle Dixon; grandchildren, Kolby Jackson, Soriah Gilmore, Kamarie Dixon, Kamyah Dixon and Arrion Cobb, Jr.; brothers, Cyrus Gilmore, Jr. (Sumlit), Ft. Walton Beach, John E. Gilmore (Carolyn), Willie C. Gilmore (Belinda), Henry Gilmore, all of Tampa and James Gilmore (Kitko), Rockville, MD; sisters, Daisy M. Gilmore, Plant City and Shirley L. Gilmore, Seffner; aunts, Sarah Houser and Eartha Robinson, both of Columbia, SC; uncle, Elliott Houser, Jr. (Barbara), Columbia, SC; nieces, Brittany, Brenna and Lois Gilmore, Yolanda Watters (Tim), Crestview, FL, Michelle Smith, Herlana Chilsom, Kimberly Hamilton, Phyllis Brewer, Laytona Mobley and Jacqueline Gilmore; nephews, Cyrus Gilmore III (Som), Timothy Hamilton, Willie Gilmore, Jr., Michael Gilmore, Henry Gilmore, Jr. and James Gilmore; cousins, Abraham Adger, George Green, Geneva Funchess, Floretha Drayton, Cora Lee Haynes, Lucille Golden and Mary Haynes; brother-in-law, Edward Guyton; friends, Cleotha Booth and Willie Bellamy; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for the service on Saturday.
