Obituary

A private Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Lassiter Childs Phillips who passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 will be held Friday, October 16th, 10:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Mark T. Jones, pastor of The Center for Manifestation, officiating.

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Lassiter Childs Phillips born to the union of the late Reverend William Edward Lassiter and Annie Pearl Longwood on December 16, 1925. She was preceded in transition by all of her siblings, Gladys Corney, Frances Gaston, William Lassiter, Anne Thompson, Edward Lassiter, Mabel Harley, Clara Billingsley and James Lassiter.Sarah received her formal education from the public-school system of Philadelphia Pennsylvania graduating in 1944. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of her father, founder and pastor of Little David Baptist Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1954. While living in Philadelphia Sarah met and married James B. Childs from Bowling Green, Virginia from that union she was blessed with two daughters. In 1976, Sarah married her long time, friend Adolph Phillips Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who has preceded her in passing. Upon retirement in 2008 Sarah moved to Tampa, Florida to be near her daughter, Karen. She joined Revealing Truth Ministries and served God faithfully in many ministry departments. Sarah had many passions in life, including singing to the glory of God and sewing were her greatest. She was best known for her sound advice and her "telling it like it is" enlightenments.

She was also preceded death by her granddaughter, Tanika Hogue and leaves to cherish her memories with her daughters, Brenda L. Childs Terrell-Hogue and Karen E. Childs-Myall; son-in-law, Gregory Hogue; grandchildren, Rick Terrell, Kareem Terrel, Tinishia Terrell, Kimberly Myall, Desi Hogue, Marshall Hogue, Takira Hogue, Amira Hogue, Josiah Hogue, Daniel Hogue, great-grandchildren, Amber Terrell, Tajah Batan, Tamir Terrell,Gionni Terrell, Abria Terrell, Aliya Terrell Melody Myall; great-greatgrandchild, Sonye Terrell; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Friday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
