Homegoing service for Ms. Sarah H. Thomas of Tampa who passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014, will be held on Saturday, November 1st, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street, Rev. Gregory V. Gay, Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will follow. Sarah H. Thomas was the third child born to the late George Thomas, Sr. and Mayme Bevel Thomas. She graduated from H.W. Blake H.S., class of 1968. She worked for 37 A years for National Linen as a presser and other various positions until 2006. She loved her family first, fashion, seafood, watching her daily "stories" and breaking bread with her close loved ones, especially on her birthday. She was baptized in her earlier years into the AME faith, and family led her to rededicate her life and become a member of her beloved, Mt. Olive AME Church, where she sang in the chancellor choir, a member of the WMS and M.O.S.T. and was a chosen honorary stewardess board member until her health began to fail. She was affectionately known as "Helen". She leaves with fondest memories with: sisters, Mary Thomas Stephens and Carolyn B. Thomas; brothers, Billy Thomas (Mildred) of Atlanta, GA and George Thomas, Jr. (Cynthia) of Gulfport, FL; nieces, LaTasha Thomas, Tamara Thomas, Nicole Thomas Moore (Garrett) of Gulfport, FL, and Ashley Thomas; nephews, Tyree Thomas, Thayer Stephens (Waiella) of Norfolk, VA and Paul E. Anderson III of "FAMU", FL; aunts, Essie B. Hunter and Marie B. Duval of Colorado and Alberta Bevel of Jacksonville, FL; uncles, Master Bevel (Gertrude) of Maryland and Johnny Bevel of Thomasville, GA; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, the Bevels, Twiggs, Raiford, Thomas; like a sister, Ouida P. Hilton and family; long-time friend and co-worker, Rhudine T. Perkins; families and other sorrowing relatives and friends. The visitation will be held on Friday, October 31st, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle St. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service.
