Shantell was born in Tampa, Florida, on February 16, 1983, to Jerry Wilson and Deborah Rivers. Shantell was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County. She worked as a children's assistant aide. She loved cooking, interior decorating, reading, and fashion designing.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Johnny Rivers; grandmother, Lena Wilson; and uncle, Rudy Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her parents, Jerry Wilson and Deborah Rivers(Chris), grandmother, Betty King; children, Joseja Santiago (Zelquaned), and Mariyah Smith; grandchildren, Yaneiro West, Jade West, Kaison Culpepper, and Kailei Culpepper; brothers, Randall Simmons, Jr., and Christopher Cobb, Jr.; sisters, Sherrell Wilson, Shaketa Rivers, and Shytiana Guion; aunts, Jennifer Wilson, Sophia Wilson, Cheryl Norton, Sandy Norton, Jackie Wilson, Carolyn Gilbert, Karen Wilson, and Felicia Ward (Ian); uncles, David King (Sandra), Reggie King (Janet); niece, Janya Rivers; nephews, Anthony Robinson, Jr., Erion Simpsons, Randall Simmons III, Kewuan Pena, Deontae Beasley, and Ayden Rivers; and a host of cousins; special thank you to everyone who helped and supported Shantells journey
