Shari E.
Blair
August 20, 1956 – June 6, 2018
A homegoing memorial service for Shari E. Blair of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, will be held on Wednesday, June 13th, 6:30 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Carolyn Riggins, officiating. Shari was born August 20, 1956 in Tampa, Florida to Annie Mae Carey and Robert Dawson, both parents preceded her in death. Shari attended and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She also attended Hillsborough Community College. She started immediately working with and caring for pre-school children for whom she had a warm spot in her heart. She never met a child she did not immediately like and cared for each as though they were a member of her own family. Likewise, the children she cared for also liked the feel of her mothering hugs. Shari worked for many years at Snow White, Orient Road and Fat Albert Daycare Centers in Tampa. She served in an important role in each of these work locations. Her primary mission in working with children was to help each child to develop their full educational potential prior to entering school. Shari also took pride in her immediate family whom she loved dearly and those in her extended family of friends whom she took under her wing. She is survived by her son, Shaminda Fields; aunts, Darlene A. Matthews (Jeffrey 'Chad'), Sherea A. Harper, Mary Ann Nealy, Mary Ann Harper, Gladys Nealy, Minnie Lee Stebbins, and Joyce A. Gues; uncles, Edward Carey and Mose (Moses) Carey, Jr. (Peggy Richmond); cousins, Philip Carey and Anndrea Carey Baskett (Sean), Zenzi Hopkins Mason, Katrena Stodghill (Henry), Valerie Carey, Kenya Scott (Sadie) and Jasmine Carey; nephew, KeMartia Jenkins; step nephew, Alex Worlds; she also leaves a host of other beloved friends and relatives who loved her and shared her love for children. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Wednesday for the service.
