Obituary

Homegoing Memorial Celebration for Mrs. Sharon Bonita Walker King, who passed away September 24, 2014, will be held Saturday, October 4th, 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Brother Donnie Whitfield, officiating. Sharon was born on September 19, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James Milton and Dorothy Walker. She was a kind, loving and caring person. Sharon attended Douglas High School. Sharon grew up on Ashburton Street in Baltimore, MD, where she lived across the street from her soon to be husband, James E. King, Jr. While growing up they became best friends and were married on November 27, 1971. Sharon traveled a lot with her husband who was in the military to, Cannon AFB, New Mexico, McGuire AFB, New Jersey, Hickam AFB, Hawaii and MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL. She held various government positions during her time of employment. After moving to Tampa in 1989 they decided to take residence in Seffner, FL. After she left employment she devoted herself to her family from raising her children to assisting raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon would devote her time to attending various events for her children and grandchildren such as basketball and football games, track and field, elementary school through high school. She would take the grandchildren to and from school and anywhere they wanted to go. Sharon was a pillar of her community, everyone knew who Mrs. Sharon was. She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother James Milton and Dorothy Walker, One Brother Carlton Walker, Father and Mother-in-law James E. King Sr. and Lucille King; brothers-in-laws James E. King Jr., and Richard Walker, Aunt Alverta; cousin Marion, She leaves to mourn her husband, James E. King Jr., 4 devoted sons, James E. King III (Alisia), Daron L. King (Annette), Darnell A. King and Reginald Coonce (godson); grandchildren, LaKeisha, Javone, Jawuan, DeShaun, Alaynnah, Tyler, Kamerym King, and Aiyana Taylor; great grandchildren, Tyre Mitchell Jr. and Marlysia King; brothers-in-laws, John R. Blackwell Sr. (Joyce), and Ronald J. King (Betty); sisters-in-law, Shelia C. Downey (Donnie), Bernadette M. Nash (Kevin), Jacqueline L. Williams, Deborah R. Whitfield and Mahani Walker; Aunts; Laura K Troxler, Emily K Sheppard (Freddy), Diane K Spencer (Walter), uncles; James Murray Jr (Annie), Leonard, Earl Nathaniel (Shirley), William (Karen), Jessie (Valerie), Kelsie (Tobey) King, cousins: Beatrice Golder, Jerome Golder, Betty Askew Annie Matthew, Darlene Brown, and a host of other relatives; The King family has come together in love one more time. special friends of the family, Rick Butler and family, Cynthia Mctier and family, Patricia Taylor and family, Marva Lewis and family Alicia Scott and family, Michael White and family, Jimmie Barnes and family, Theresa McCloud and family, Henry McCloud and family, George Harding and family, Joe Powers and family, Frances Reynolds and family and host of other sorrowing friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for the service on Saturday.
