Sheila was born August 6, 1949, in Sarasota, Florida, to the late Fred and Johnnie Taylor. Sheila dedicated her career to helping others, retiring from a fulfilling role at Hillsborough County Social Services. Even in retirement, Sheila's unwavering commitment to her community never waned. Sheila's passion for music and fellowship found a harmonious outlet in her involvement with the Hodo Chorus, where her voice joined in uplifting harmony with others. She served with grace and diligence as a member of the Usher Board, the Pastor's Aid Board, and as a Church Clerk for Highland Missionary Baptist Church. Sheila was an avid sportswoman, relishing the camaraderie and competition found in softball and tennis. She also loved to sew. Those who knew Sheila will remember her as the embodiment of loving-kindness. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and comforting her spirit. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by; parents, Fred and Johnnie Taylor; Anderson and Laverne Morris; brother, Charles Hughes; sister, Bonita Norton; and son, Frank Washington.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: children, Shelon Johnson, William A. Johnson, Jose Williams, William O. Johnson, Jr. (Shon), and Bryant Johnson (Stephanie); grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, George Smith, Donte Black, Myya Johnson, William O. Johnson III, and Lionel Johnson; great-grandchildren, Eden Johnson, Eliias Olmeda, Ryan Johnson, Jr, Sihlis Olmeda, Avery Johnson, Jahsyes Smith, Heaven Leonard, George Smith III, Amara Black, Aja-Marie Smith, Donte' Black, Jr., and Kehlani Jackson; brothers, Cornelius Hughes, Sr. (Velma), and Arvin Morris (Joyce); sisters, Brenda Davis (Dwight), Vickie Young (Val), and Millie Evans; special friend, Betty Benjamin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
