Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Shirley Claudette Baker of Tampa, who passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, will be held Saturday September 28th at 2:00 p.m., Pleasant AME Chapel, 2615 Chipco Street with, Rev. James Crews, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Shirley C. Baker was born in Tampa, Florida on January 19, 1944 to the union of the late Mozelle Baker and Rosalie Russ Baker. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Middleton High School, class of 1963. She began her college career at Gibbs Junior College. Shirley was preceded in death by her father Mozelle; sister, Rhudine Baker and brother, Alfred Baker. She leaves fond memories in the hearts of mother Rosalie Baker; brother, Hailey Baker; nephews, Troy and Kevin Baker; niece, Dea Baker; cousins, Sylvia Myrick (Leroy); Johnnie Chapman, Manuel Chapman (Gloria), Tyre Chapman (Diane), Faye Mosley, Fern Alexandra (Lonnie), Joe Chapman; close friends, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson; and a host of other extended family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, September 27th from 5-8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
