Obituary

Shirley D. Thompson, a loving, kind, and faith-filled woman, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord. She was born to the late Jadee and Annie Rae Davis, and through her years, she lived a life filled with grace, love, and devotion to her family and faith. Shirley was a proud graduate of Middleton Senior High School. Her compassionate nature led her to a fulfilling career at the VA Hospital, where she dedicated herself to the care and service of others. Her commitment to helping people reflected her generous heart and unwavering kindness. A faithful member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, she volunteered in the women's guild, men and women's fish fry dinners, as well as carnival fundraising. Shirley's life was anchored in her deep belief in God. Her church community and her family were the cornerstones of her joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Vincent Keith Thompson and Donald Warren Thompson; parents, Jadee and Annie Rae Davis, and her brother, Jean Floyd Davis.

Cherishing her memory and carrying on her legacy are her devoted children, Doran Charles Thompson, Warren Steven Thompson, Jean Adrianne Thompson, and Marsha Thompson; dear sister, Juanita Elizabeth McQueen; loving brother, Jadee Davis (Dorothy); grandchildren, Danitra Thompson, Laterica Clethen, Desiree Garcia, Coco Thompson,  Shirley Danielle Thompson,  Marques Thompson, Richard and Jeremie Garcia, and a host of great-granchildren, cousins, and cherished friends. Shirley was known for her vibrant spirit and her many interests. She loved being outdoors searching for butterflies, traveling, and tending to her garden. A loyal Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, she also enjoyed sports, cooking, and sewing. She was a talented seamstress, and her warmth and creativity could be felt in every stitch and meal she lovingly prepared. Her coworkers Leonard Whaley and Linda McGann, along with countless others who knew her, will remember her gentle smile and thoughtful nature. Shirley touched the lives of many with her compassion, humor, and unwavering faith. One of her favorite sayings was, "Stay Safe" — a reflection of her caring soul and her desire for the well-being of others. Though she is gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts. Her love, kindness, and faith will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
