A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Sonya Lenita Williams of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 will be held on Wednesday, September 29th, 1:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rev. James Richardson, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Sonya Lenita Williams was born on August 31, 1961 in Tampa, Florida to the late Fred and Annie Lois Wynn. Sonya received her education in Hillsborough County Schools where she graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School in June 1979. She was united in marriage with Art Williams on December 29, 2004. She was employed as a postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service for over 40 plus years. Sonya was a loving, devoted, caring and supportive mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is known for her excellent cooking skills and loved showcasing her cuisine on social media. She was a giver and loved helping and taking care of people. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized at an early age. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Annie Lois DeVance Wynn. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Art Williams; a daughter, Raeneisha McDaniels; a son, Gregory Law, Jr. (Tiffany); ShaMarae McDaniels (as a daughter); Stephanie Williams, stepdaughter; grandchildren, Jaiden Law, Imani Law, Kendall Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Lyric Law, Janay Williams and Jennifer Williams; two brothers, Freddie L. Wynn, Jr. (Cheryl) and Marquis F. Wynn (Bertha); two sisters, Althea M. Wynn and Enga Myrick (Carl); cousin, Tia Brown (Everett); aunts, Brucie Mae Brown, Orine Black, Dorothy Burgess, Clara Rosado all of Auburn, Alabama; and Ellen Taliferro of Altamonte Springs, Florida and Lillie Reed of Las Vegas, Lettie Jones (Rev. Johnny), Angeline Russ of Marianna, Queen Holden of Miami, Laverne Pope (Philip) of Virginia; uncles, Lawrence Holden (Melody) of Alabama, and Charles Holden of Marianna; nieces, Yvette Wynn, Phyteri Wynn, Marquisha Larkin (Kevin); nephews, Donald Dowridge III and Freddie L. Wynn, III; and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins; special thanks to the Wynn families, Dixons, Whites and Lewis in St. Petersburg, Marianna and North Florida; special friends, The Douglas Family, Mr. and Mrs. William Ira Ellison and family, and Doris Williams.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Wednesday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
