Spurgeon loved working on cars, helping others, playing cards, dominoes, and fishing. He loved spending time with his friends and family, he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Smith; brothers, Henry Smith and Kirby Smith; sister, Loretta Smith; and nephew, Tishawn Lawrence.
