Obituary

Staff Sergeant Adonys Jimel Nivens was born on January 1, 1997, in Panama City, Panama, to Derek and Zuleika Nivens. From a young age, Adonys had a curious mind and a generous heart, qualities that only deepened as he grew older. He graduated from Earl J. Lennard High School in 2015. He also played football and soccer.

A true enthusiast at heart, Adonys had a deep passion for cars, often spending time under the hood or sharing his knowledge with others. He was a dedicated reader, a spirited video gamer, and an avid fan of anime and cosplay, finding joy in the creativity and community these brought into his life. Never one to remain idle, Adonys continuously worked to sharpen his programming skills, always looking to learn and grow. His favorite foods were a reflection of his bold and adventurous spirit—anything spicy, sushi, and boba tea. He loved hiking with friends, taking in nature's beauty, and giving back to his community through volunteer work. Adonys was known for his kindness, reliability, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether it was car troubles, moving day, or lending a hand at events, all one had to do was ask — and Adonys would be there, ready to help with a smile. He joined the Air Force on March 6, 2018, as a Cyber Intelligence Analyst. After eight weeks of Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, he attended the Basic Fundamentals of Intelligence Analysis Course at Goodfellow AFB. Upon graduation, he moved to Pensacola, Florida, to attend the Joint Cyber Analysis Course (JCAC) at Corry Station, Naval Air Station Pensacola. After graduating JCAC, he arrived at Fort Meade, Maryland, on April 16, 2019, to serve in the 7th Intelligence Squadron as a Cyber Network Analyst. During his time in the 7th Intelligence Squadron, he consistently went above and beyond, resulting in his selection for Senior Airman Below the Zone. He was the number one selectee out of 16 Airmen, allowing him to attain the grade of Senior Airman six months early, effective March 6, 2020. From there, Adonys went on to be promoted to Staff Sergeant on February 1, 2022, as he selflessly advocated for his peers and subordinates.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ms. Cora Ann Williams-Nivens; and maternal grandparents, Mr. Cirily Nathaniel Adamson and Ms. Gladys Alberta Harris.

He leaves behind cherished memories with his parents, Mr. Derek Nivens and Mrs. Zuleika Nivens; sister, Ms. Alexaira Nivens; girlfriend, Ms. Courtney Huff; paternal grandfather, Mr. Jimmie Nivens (Flora); paternal aunt, Ms. Dawn Nivens-Molnar; maternal aunts, Ms. Jessica De Williams Singh, Ms. Maria Luisa Aguebor, Ms. Lalaine Emerson, and Ms. Lissa Figueroa; maternal uncle, Mr. Alfredo McKenzie; paternal cousin, Mr. Trent Farmer; maternal grandaunt, Ms. Esther Maria Harris; godmother, Ms. Delmira Iveth Corbin; bonus family, aunts, and cousins; along with countless friends and loved ones whose lives were brighter because of him. Adonys will be remembered not just for what he did, but for how he made people feel, seen, supported, and loved.
