Obituary

Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Stephen Geetooah affectionately known as "Mr. Lerry" and "Charlie" of Tampa passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, will be held Saturday, September 5th, 12:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Tim Lancaster, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Stephen was born November 28, 1928 in Port of Spain, Trinidad to the late Nathaniel and Poly Rosa Geetooah. Stephen loved to travel, fix cars, music, especially Christmas carols. He also enjoyed spending time on holiday with family and friends. In his younger years he was an outstanding athlete and loved playing soccer and cricket. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Larry and Marge Geetooah. He leaves to cherish fond memories of his life with his loving wife, Lurrie Shakes; dedicated children, Claudette McDonald, Ingrid Bailey (Michael), Ann Shakes and Michael Shakes; beloved grandchildren, Elaine and Brian McDonald, Thakima Shakes (Jeff Thomas), Candice Shakes (Brandon Mills), Darnell Shakes (Sherry), Kuran, Thamika, Annika, Mickey, Melinik, Nigel, Ashanti and Isaiah Shakes; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph, Lenox and John "Honeyboy" Geetooah; sisters, Olive and Pearl Geetooah and Jean Pollonain (Alphonso); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; special friends, Ganett, Collie and Clarky. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, September 4th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
