Homegoing Services for Mr. Sylvester "Syl" Dumas, Sr., of Tampa, who passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd with Pastor Rashidi Collins, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Sylvester was born June 9, 1951 in Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Clarence Dumas, Sr.; mother, Jessie Lee Poole; brothers, Harry Dumas and Howard Capers and niece, Marilyn Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories with his significant other, Louise Bennett; mother of his children, Jackie (Lillie Perdomo); children, Sylvester Dumas, Jr. (Mileena), Deborah Sampson (Carlos), Roland Simms, Selena Bennett, Roger McKay Bennett, Keila McKay and Frederick Dumas, Sr.; grandchildren, Sylvia Dumas, Sylvester Dumas III, Sasha Dumas, Sylmia Dumas, Sylmour Dumas, Sion Dumas, Summer Dumas, Siya Dumas, Brianna Sampson, Bianca Sampson, Sierra Sampson, Takeyle Sampson and Frederick Dumas, Jr.; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Dumas (Francis) and Calvin Dumas; sisters, Mary L. Teems, Janie Lee Jonson (Cecil) and Martha Capers; nieces, Patricia Teems (Bruce), Temika Coker (Michael), Lashondra Johnson, Kim Chaney, Renee Maura, Cassandra Dumas, Angela Dumas, Pam Away and Lisa Jones; nephews, Michael Capers, Roosevelt Jones (Karnesia), Johnny Poole (Vivian), Darron Campbell (Shelethia), Alphonso Bruton (Monica), Calvin Dumas II and Devin Jones; special family members, Hattie Jones, Lisa Jones and Gwen Thornton; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, May 9th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
