Obituary

A homegoing celebration for Deacon Sylvester McCullough, Sr. of Tampa who passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Re-Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 1924 E. Comanche Ave., Pastor Zachery S. Hudson, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Sylvester McCullough, Sr. was born November 21, 1937 in Waverly, Florida to the late Frank McCullough and Elizabeth Henderson McCullough. He was a long-time member of Victory Tabernacle M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. John Overstreet before God led him to join the membership of Re-Birth M. B. Church. He served as a faithful deacon to his pastor and church members. Sylvester loved his job as a professional truck driver for over fifty years. He enjoyed barbequing for his family and also loved working on small engines repairing them. He has now joined his beloved late wife of 62 years, Alberta D. McCullough. Sylvester was preceded in death by 9 sisters and 3 brothers. He leaves to cherish his fond memories his loving children, Sylvester McCullough, Jr. (Theresa), Martha Jones, Gwendolyn Russ (Ernie, Sr.), Oral McCullough, Sr., Jessie McCullough Dallas, Eddie McCullough (Robyn) and Rosalinde Woodside (Anthony); grandchildren, Jermain, Marquis, Marcus, Leroy, Leon, Deion, Anitris, Aurn, Jr., Walter, Adolphus, Willie, Cory, Oral, Jr., Ellissa, Leticia, Carlton, Jr., Konika, Joshua, Tia, Richard, Jessica, Keirsten, Sherreka, Ventonyia, Phil, Ashley, Lauretta, Lakeisha and Adrian; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, Samuel McCullough (Hazel) and sister, Ora Mae Green; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Young and Vennie Bell Daughtry; special nieces, Vernell Walker, Cynthia Shell and Lurese Bailey; special friends, Carleton Henderson, James Brown and Peggy Ford; and a host of other family members, friends and church family. The visitation will be held on Friday, November 10th, at Aikens Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
