Obituary

A Homegoing Service for Mrs. Sylvia Allen of Tampa, Florida who passed away on January 18, 2020, will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Thonotosassa, Florida. Sylvia was born on January 15, 1920 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Sam and Mary Nelson. She attended the Brooks County Public School System. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Annie Mae Wright, Irene Favors and Willie Nelson, Sr.; children, Albert Robinson, Jr., and Mary Levette; granddaughters, Cynthia Barner and Gail Anderson; great-great grandson, Keteyian Jackson; nieces, Delores Mungin and Mary Cason; nephews, Sammie Nelson, Sr., Willie Nelson, Jr. and Robert Nelson; godchildren, Robert Lee Hughey, Joann and Harold Daniels. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: 5 daughters, Annie Pearl Thompson, Alma Kinsey (Samuel), Sarah Carolyn Clemons, Mary Robinson (caregiver) and Patricha Lawson (caregiver); 9 grandchildren, Tanya Jackson-Akbar, Linda Shelton Whaley, Rick Kinsey, Ron Kinsey (Tomeka), Robin Kinsey, Angela O'Hara, Terrence O'Hara, Freddie Clemmons, Jr., Pia Lawson Pierre (Sonny); 18 great grandchildren, Tiffany Barner, Traci Barner Brown (Trava), Latasha Freeman Holmes (Jerry), Kenyatta Jackson (Andrea), Keaira Walton (Darell), Jaelin Whaley, Devin Kinsey, Alaina Gibson (Sterling), Jessica Kinsey, Jordan Kinsey, Jansen Kinsey, Carrington Kinsey, Chandler Kinsey, Tameka Hayward (Kenyata), Takeena O'Hara, Terrence O'Hara, Sonny Pierre, Jr., and Slade Pierre; 15 great great grandchildren; 5 great great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; god-children and good friends, Jim Lynn (Wilma), Lula Smith, Lillian Thomas (Moses), Barbara Baker, Jacqueline Preston, Ella McAllister, Michael King, Paul Morant (Lisa), Sharon Dix, Christine Poole, Dora Henry, Willie Dismuke (Ella), Rosa Austin (Leon), Linda Ford, Joyce Stevens, Carolyn Snell, Mary Avery, Jacqueline Walker, Carrie Rhanes, Kenneth Monroe (Lisa), Alvin Monroe, Harolyn Gunn, Mercella Oliver (Thony), Julia Roberts and Melenese Bradley; special thank you to: Darlene Thompkins (devoted caregiver), Sylvia Morris, and LifePath Hospice, Ruby Team. The visitation will be held Friday, January 24th at Aikens Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
