Sylvia Ledet Fontenette was born to the late Edith Bailey and Joseph Ledet, Jr., on August 06, 1943. Marie, as she was affectionately called by many, was a beautiful light in this world. The time that she spent in our lives was memorable and filled with complete joy. Marie was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and confidant to many people. She was an adventurer, willing to see the world with her family and friends. She could also put any plant in the ground and make it grow with her love and care. Marie was a true renaissance womanshe could sew elegant curtains for your home, cater the most elegant events, feed the homeless, sing beautiful music, and served the Church faithfully in numerous ways for more than 50 years. She did all of these things with incomparable class and an infectious smile. Sylvia Marie left us on February 27, 2022, and was welcomed into heaven with love by her parents, Edith Bailey and Joseph Ledet, Sr.; and her brother, John Ledet, Sr. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory; three sons, Dwayne (Gina), Donovan (Trenise), Durwin (Loreal); friend and former spouse, Whitney Fontenette of Louisiana; two sisters, Carol Jackson of Virginia, Linda Allen of Louisiana; a brother, Robert Ledet, Sr. of Wyoming; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Knights of Peter Claver, St. Peter Claver Court 379-Henriette deLille Scholarship.
