A Homegoing Celebration for Tangela Trenice Green "Tangie" of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 3410 E. Wilder Ave., Pastor Joseph Skyes, eulogist with Rev. Dr. Laytecia McKinney, pastor of Victory Temple Outreach Ministries, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Tangela Trenice Green was born February 27, 1964, in Tampa, Florida. She attended Brandon High School. She was the oldest of children born to the late Willard Green Sr and Lillie Shuler-Williams. Tangie enjoyed cooking. She was known for her unique and great-tasting potato salad and even won awards for her collard green and chili. She was a natural nurturer, very loving, and a humble woman. Like her mother, Tangie never met a stranger. Tangie worked for several years as an Executive Housekeeping Supervisor for The Quality Inn & Suites, Palm Gardens Nursing Care Facility and was a popular bartender in the West Tampa area for several years. Tangie and her siblings were reared in Macedonia MB Church under the late Elbert Gorden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jones Jr, her parents, Willard Green Sr and Lillie Shuler-Williams; grandparents, Robert and Lorene Shuler. Tangie leaves wonderful memories to cherish with, daughter Miracle Faith Jones; siblings Ellen "Lisa", Theresa, and Helena Green, Cindy Porter, Michael Edoga, Kelvin Porter, and Willard Green Jr. all of Tampa, Florida and Eugene (Etha) Williams of Lakeland, Florida; stepmother; Annie Ruth Green; godmother, Shirley Puerto; nephews and nieces, Tameka & Larry Knott, Ashley Grant-Hills, Iva and Anthony Phillips Sr., William Green Sr., Shignona Burton, Chauncey Flowers, Ilona Munos (Charles), and Porshia McDuffie; aunts and uncles, Sylvia and Jaspar McFarlane, Eva Shuler-Simon, Rudolph Shuler Sr, Clinton and Lydia Shuler, Margrete and Willie Harris, Ruby Thomas, Annie Bell Mills, and Annie Bell Brown; god sisters, Carol McDuffie, Kimberly Mills, June Campbell-Williams, Pastor Theresa Johnson, and Dorothy Beazer; goddaughter, Takila Poinsetta-Bell; godbrothers, Andrew Mingo and William "Billy" Grant; Tangie was an amazing "Auntie" to Lamecia, Terimyah, Shayla, Christian, William Jr, Audleyia, Paris, Anthony Jr, London, Amari, Chasity, Chase, and Thomas; special friends, Barbara Hillard, Irma Feacher, Tomika Thomas, Bertha Mingo-Russell, Gloria Smith, Tasha Thomas, and Melissa Thomas.
The visitation will be at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 1st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the Church on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
