Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Theresa R. Johnson departed from this life on Sunday, November 10, 2013 will be held Saturday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m., Mt. Pleasant MB Church, 2002 Rome Ave, Dr. C.T Kirkland, pastor with Rev. Dr. James Redmon, eulogist. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Theresa R. Johnson was born on January 25, 1934 in Tampa, Florida to the parentage of the late Andrew (Catherine) Redmon and Gertrude (Henry) Suber. She attended Middleton High School where she was a member of the girls varsity basketball team. She graduated from Gibbs vocational school of nursing in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1957 as a licensed practical nurse. She retired from James A. Haley VA Hospital. Theresa owned and operated Johnson Assisted Living Facility for a number of years until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by brother, Frank Redmon. Theresa was the mother of 5 children; Anthony Harris, Donley Harris, Theresa Shuler (Eugene), Tammy L. Gordon, Anissa N. McNiel (Eric); She was the grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 14; siblings, Helen R. Davis, Henry Suber, Jr., Yvonne S. Williams, Ivalita S. Woods, Paulette S. Debose, Elouise Redmon, Dr. James (Adarna) Redmon, Andrew Redmon, Lewis Redmon, Lonnie Hill, Sandra (Walter) Smith, Bobbie (Willis) Bethea, Sammy (Martina) Redmon, Jessie Redmon, Phillip (Delores) Redmon, Rev. Matthew (Andrea) Redmon and John Redmon; she leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews; cousins who include, Fred Watts, D.S. Gilley, Thelma Branham, Rachel Gilley, the Houstons, Washingtons, Ashbys, Archbalds, Kemps, Johnsons, Banks and Goodman families; special friends, include Elizabeth Booker and husband, Prudence Reeves, Mattie Mills and family, Shakira Bowman, David Lozier, Carol Nolis, Caridad Arenas Johnson and husband, Claudine Blue and husband and Barbara Donaldson; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 15th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
