Homegoing services for Mr. Thomas "Junior" White of Tampa who passed away in the loving arms of his family and friends at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2:00 p.m. Mt. Tabor M.B. Church, 2606 W. Grace St., Rev. T.D. Leonard, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Thomas White was born April 7, 1928 in Elberton, Georgia to the late Ada Cooper and Johnnie White. Thomas White "Tom or Mr. Lucky as he was also affectionately known lived in Tampa, Florida for over 60 years. He was family man who was hard working and supported his family by the sweat of his brows and by having a strong work ethic. He worked as a truck driver and laborer. He took great pride and satisfaction in his contribution in building homes throughout Hillsborough County. In his quest to better his family, he also owned and operated Whites' Janitorial business. Thomas was a praying man who had great joy in serving the Lord at his church, Mt. Tabor. He often spoke proudly about his pastor, Rev. Leonard to anyone and he was known to grace his family with a hymn. Thomas will be remembered for his strong will, work ethic, charitable giving and no-nonsense approach to life. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Corene "Jackie". White; 2 children, George Henry Smith and Bonita D. White; He leaves to cherish his loving memory children: sons, Johnnie Smith and wife, Dora and Rickey Smith and wife, Patricia, all of Tampa, FL; daughters, Maxine Robinson and husband, Clarence, Alice White, Tampa, FL, Helen Mensha, Daytona Beach, FL, Spring White and Lexxie Myrick, both of Tampa, FL; 4 sisters, Bessie Lawson, Tampa, FL, Florine O'Neil and husband, John, Estella Williams and husband, Wilburt and Ada Dennis, all of Sanford, FL; 23 grandchildren, Sonia, Johnnie Smith, Jr., and wife, Grace, George Smith, Jabar Smith, Justin Smith and wife, Latte, Aja Smith, Tenesha Smith, Tiffany Smith, Allison Poole and husband, Brian, Antonio Braxton and wife, Kim, Brandi Foster and husband, Raymond, Astin Shellman, Jarvis White, Marvis Norwood and wife, Amanda, Travis Norwood, Jerry Daniels and wife, Johana, Javonte Surcy, Shandann White, Aislyn Coney, Ronald Myrick, Jr., Celese Moss and husband, Christopher, Lyndon Dallas, Jr. and wife, Valerie, Jessica Bennette and husband, Terrence; brother-in-law, Menzion Smith and wife, Jackie; spiritual sister, Johnnie Mae Holloway; spiritual daughter, Donna Sanders; 49 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. The visitation will be held at Mt. Tabor M.B. Church on Friday, March 16th, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends during this time. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
