A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Toney Arnez Douglas of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 will be held on Thursday, March 4th, 4:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Minister Michael Peterson, officiating. Toney was born August 3, 1962 in Tampa, Florida. Toney was church usher and proud to be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord. He also loved watching movies, going fishing and enjoyed a special bond with his siblings and playing dominos with his uncle Tommy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Douglas and Essie Mae Jackson; brother, Charles Douglas, Jr. and grandmother, Mattie Mae Hines. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his sister, Patricia Parks; brothers, Robert Thompkins, Lorenzo Spencer and Kamau Malik; wife, Irene Douglas; children of heart, Michael J. Ponder, Michael Gadsden, Dwohn Burchett, Miaudre Harris and Carter girls; grandchildren of heart, Ramese Sanders, Brianna Sackel, Dionecio and Arizmendi; aunts, Beulah Groce and Juanita Burston; uncles, Tommy Upshaw and Richard Burston, a host of loving nieces, nephews; cousin, Tommy Upshaw, Jr.; special friend, Betty Williams. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Thursday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines (mask are required).
