Univee, affectionately nicknamed, "Ms.Pat", was born on August 13, 1937, in Quincy, Florida, to Sam Ferguson and Mary Alice Gainous. Univee was educated in Gadsen County School System and moved to Orlando, Florida shortly after graduating eventually moving to Tampa and making a home for her 4 children.

She earned an AA degree from Hillsborough Community College and began her career with department of Children and Family Services in social work. She eventually retired from her job but continued to utilize her skills by volunteering to tutor children after school in the community. She loved reading and always encouraged and told young adults the importance of reading. Her motto was "Cant read can't succeed". Her favorite activities also included volunteering and tutoring for children after school. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Gainous; father, Sam Ferguson; sister, Lola Oce; sons, Antonio and Lorenzo Ferguson.

She leaves precious memories with her daughter, Jonelle Guilford; son, Demetrius Ferguson and his wife, Janice; grandchildren, Derrick Ferguson and wife, Erica, Deandre Turner II, Lorenzo Myles, Dequan Myles, Netia Myles, Mario Ferguson, Hyson Williams, Chiquita Williams, Loren Ferguson, Simon Ferguson, Antonio Ferguson II, and Jerold Demetri Ferguson; 6 great-grandchildren, Derrick Ferguson II, Deandre Turner III, Kierra Gant, Whitley Gant, and many more; aunt, Catherine Gainous; and a host of niece and nephews; Natalie Oce, Kim Oce, and Quinton Oce; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
