Veralee
Wilson
February 12, 1945 – January 8, 2026
Mrs. Veralee Deloris Sheffield Wilson was born on February 12, 1945, in Tampa, Florida, to the late James Dock Sheffield and Cloretha Veralee Sheffield. She passed away peacefully in her home. She was the first of five children affectionately known as the "5 Ds," setting an example of strength and responsibility for her siblings from an early age. At a young age, Deloris was baptized at Hood Temple AME Zion Church, where her faith and values were nurtured. She attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from Middleton Senior High School as a proud member of the Class of 1963. While at Middleton, Deloris was an active participant in the marching band, playing the clarinet—an experience she cherished. Following high school, Deloris furthered her education at Brewster Technical School, where she completed post–high school training as an optometrist assistant. She also attended Hillsborough Community College, where she was trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant and began a career at Tampa General Hospital.
Deloris was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Dock Sheffield and Cloretha Veralee Sheffield; husband, Phillip Wilson; and brother, Jerome Daniel Sheffield.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, James Dwight Sheffield; two sisters, Veronica Denise Morgan (Ethan) and Vanessa Darlene Clark; her dear aunt, Dorothy K. Richardson; and a loving extended family including a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Deloris will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering commitment to family, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
