A virtual Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Vinnie Williams of Tampa Fl who passed away on Thursday, August 05, 2021, will be held on Tuesday, August 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born on September 03, 1920, in Palmetto, FL. to the late Hezekiah and Queen E. Payton. Mrs. Williams was converted to Christianity at an early age in Sarasota, FL, under the leadership of Reverend L.R. Wilson. She then relocated to Miami, FL, and joined Friendship Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend L.J. Ross. There she married her late husband, Mr. J.C. Williams, Sr., in 1948. They moved to Detroit, MI, and had one son, the family moved to Tampa, FL where she joined First Baptist Church of Progress Village. She served on the usher board for many years until her health failed her, then she joined the prayer band.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, sister, Claretha Major of Sarasota, FL., and brother, J.B. Lee (Louise Lee) of Sarasota, FL. She leaves to cherish her memories, two grand-children, Ms. Jessica P. Williams of Detroit, MI., and Mr. Marquette J. Williams of Cleveland, OH; four great-grandchildren, Marquette Williams Jr, Sancia Williams, Avery Williams, and Antaios Williams.; two sisters, Mary Goffigan of Bronx, NY., and Annie Ruth Lester of Atlanta, GA.; one brother, Thomas M. Lee, and wife, Lucy Lee of Detroit, MI.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church members from First Baptist Church of Progress Village.
