Virgil was born on December 7, 1961, in Miami, Florida. He received his education in Miami and Tampa public schools. He was employed for many years at the University of Tampa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lulu Bell Branch; sister, and 2 brothers.

Virgil leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Earnestine Strickland Branch; sons, Virgil Lee Branch, Jr. (Naomi) and Michael Branch; 6 stepchildren; 2 grandchildren; brother, Smokey Branch; best friend, Andrew Benjamin; a host of family, friends, and church members.
