Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Walter Benjamin Comer of Tampa, Florida who passed away, Saturday, January 3rd, will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 3901 N. 37th Street, Elder Thomas Reed, pastor with Elder Johnny L. Wright, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida. Deacon Comer was a member of First Community Christian Church. He was a United States Veteran of the U. S. Navy and worked 35 years for Central Truck Line before retiring. He enjoyed going to church, taking walks and eating "chikin" and his favorite quote was "You be good now". He was preceded in death by his parents the late Melvin Comer and Minnie B. Franklin; brother, William B. Comer and sister, Thelma V. Hughes. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 25 years, Altamese N. Comer; children, Sandra Carleston, Beverly Mosley (Luther), Carl Nelson (Judy) and Melvin Nelson (Dorothy); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister, Anna Ellis of Tampa; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the Church on Saturday for the service.
