A Homegoing Memorial Service for Mr. Walter David Douglas, Jr. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on October 8, 2021, will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, 11:00 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 Lowe Street, Tampa, 33605, Reverend Dr. Glenn Dames, Sr., Senior Pastor, officiating.

In His infinite wisdom and gentle grace, God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb, so He gently closed Davids loving eyes and whispered, "Peace be thine." And so it was that Friday evening, the 8th of October in the year of our Lord, two thousand twenty-one. David, as he was affectionally known, was born on November 18, 1946, to the parents Walter David Douglas, Sr., and Maxine Mobley Douglas. David passed away quietly at the home of his son and family, Jermaine, Sr.

David was an avid Buccaneer fan and was known for his love of golf, racquetball, shooting pool, and spending time with family and friends. He was a graduate of Middleton High School and attended Florida A&M University, where he was a member of the Marching 100. He was a member of Allen Temple AME Church, where he served faithfully in various positions. David never met a stranger and had a smile that would light up a room. He had a strong Christian faith that never failed. David had a love of life and family and gave meaning to the words son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father Walter David Douglas Sr.; and son Walter David Douglas III. David leaves to cherish precious memories with his loving mother, Maxine Mobley Douglas; children, Wayne Devin Douglas, Jermaine L. Douglas, Sr. (Donna) , Jahmal L. Douglas (Ereaka), Kenith Myers, Yvette Boatwright, Terrance Brooks; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; godbrothers, Shawn D. Singfield and Warren Dingle; and a host of loving family and friends.

The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
