Obituary

A Homegoing Graveside Celebration for Mr. Walter Reese Hearn of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 will be held Saturday, July 18th, 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Ave., Rev. Timothy Lancaster, officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Heaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Walter Reese Hearn was born September 3, 1931 to the union of Mr. Landy Hearn and Mrs. Marianna Hearn in Quitman, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Arthur Hearn. He departed this life July 9, 2020. Walter attended grade school and graduated from Quitman High School in 1951. He was drafted into the United States Army right after high school, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired from the Army in 1974. After leaving the Army he resided in Louisville, Kentucky for a while where he got a job working for Reynolds Metals. Upon arriving to Tampa, Florida he worked work for the City of Tampa. The later years of his life he was self-employed. Walter leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife Shirline Hearn; 2 sisters, Willie M. Walton and Doris McCarty; 5 step-sons, Willie Thompson, Larry Thompson, Johnny Thornton, Rashawn Thompson and Demario Williams; 1 step-daughter, Niesha Thompson; 8 nieces, Earletta Hearn, Linda Hearn, Kayla Hearn, Lisa Hearn, Yvette McCarty, Sharon Hearn, Rhonda McCarty and Maxine Hearn; 7 nephews, Foster C. Walton, Rodrick McCarty, Keith McCarty, Larry Hearn, Robert Hearn, and Terrence Hearn; a host of step grands, great and great great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
