Homegoing service for Mr. Walter E. Mention, Sr. "Walt" of Tampa who passed away, Saturday, October 15, 2011, will be held Saturday, October 22nd, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Walter was born November 3, 1941 in Tampa, Florida to the late Morosa Mention and Janie Mention. Walter enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching sports "loved the Bucs" and taking care of his plants. He was preceded in death by his father, Morosa Mention and grandparents, Osar and Roberta Mention and McKinley and Annie Mae Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Ernestine Mention; children, Lisa Mention and Walter E. Mention, Jr. and wife, Courtney; grandchildren, Kaylyn Mention, Rolisha Baldwin, Dominique Cotton, Zineaya Baldwin and Dominic Cotton; mother, Janie Mention; brother, Major Mention and wife, Willie Mae; sister, Rosa Lee Hermitt and husband, Glen; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors; special friends, James and Barbara Green. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
