Obituary

Homegoing Services for Mr. Waymon Strong, Sr. of Tampa who passed away Monday June 27, 2011 with his family at his side, will be held Saturday July 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Carrie B. Williams, officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Strong was born on October 28, 1939 to the late Simm Strong and Mattie Lee Peety of Eufaula, Alabama. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Moultry Strong and Claude Strong and one sister, Wylena Strong. On February 14, 1962, Waymon Strong was joined in Holy matrimony to Annett Dozier Strong. This union resulted in a family of two sons and three daughters. Waymon was a wonderful loving and supportive husband and a father who was greatly loved and appreciated by his children as well as anyone who came in contact with him. After leaving Eufaula, Alabama, making Tampa his home, he found employment at the Tampa Ship Yard. He dedicated over 25 years of his career to Gardnier Chemical Plant, where he retired from. Mr. Strong dedicated his life to raising his family, making sure they had all the things in life they needed that he could possibly provide, as well as the love and kindness he shared with all. He was a man of his word, a man that his children could count on and was very inspirational to his family. He was well known for sitting on the porch playing his harmonica to the sweet sound of jazz. To mourn his passing, cherish his memories and celebrate his Homegoing are sons: Waymon Strong (Peggy), Claude Strong (Tina); daughters, Bobbie Renee Tinsley, Natalie Strong and Carolyn Strong, 18 grandchildren: Terril (Tron), Curtis, Curshawn, Sharone, Teran, Shean, Marcus, Parker, Mike, L., Tavaris (Joann), Darrell (Tosha), Darrvette, Dontavious, Regina, Jehnae, Travis, and Anthony: 17 great grandchildren; and host of relatives and friends. Special thanks to the Pattmon, Grier, Wilson, McCrae and Blackmon families. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm Friday. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel on Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
