Obituary

Graveside services for Deacon William Burke (Billy) of 4614 Ashland Dr., who passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009, will be held Tuesday, June 30th, 1:00 p.m., Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. James Harris, officiating. Deacon Burke has finished his race and now at rest. He had a quality of compassion for others that was distinctive. He will be remembered for his winning smile. He moved to Tampa with his parents at the age of three, Deacon and sister John Burke and his brother, Tyrone from Plattsburg Air Force Base in New York. At the early age of three he was also baptized in the Pentecostal Church of God. He was the President of the Y.P.U. and at the age of nineteen was an ordained Deacon. Tyrone was his only brother and he was his Uncle, Johnathan's first nephew, which created a special bond. He graduated from King High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon John Burke and aunt, Zelma Young. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, which is a very special gift to his mother, Sis. Mary Burke; daughter, Whitney; brother, Tyrone and wife, Barbara and nephew, Johnathan; grandfather, Deacon Dennis Faison, Winter Haven, Florida; his friend, Linda Williams; aunts and uncles, Evangelist and Sister Don Craney of Winter Haven, Florida, Bro. and Sis. Jay Herring (Carol), Mr. Eddie Young, Bro. and Sis. Pete Peterson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, June 30th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the gravesite at 1:00 p.m. for the service.
