Williamae (Mae) Joy James (Sandy) was born on June 1, 1973, to Eunice Toledo and Samuel I. Sandy. Mae was a proud native of Laurelton, Queens, and a graduate of Dominican Commercial High School. Whether hanging out on 232nd Street, Brooklyn, or enjoying the summers in Tobago, she cherished time with her brother and cousins, listening to old-time Panamanian music, Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Hip Hop, and R&B. Mae celebrated life to the fullest!

Known affectionately to some as "The Queen of Shade," Mae was quick-witted, fiercely loving, protective, and loyal to those she cared about. One of Mae's greatest joys was the birth of her beautiful baby girl, D'Asia James, in 1999. In 2004, Mae transferred her position with Chase to start a new chapter in Tampa, FL, with her family. The following year, she embarked on a 20-year career with WellCare, now known as Centene, where she thrived. Mae's hard work led to her promotion as a supervisor over the Reach team, affectionately known as Team aMAEzin! Mae excelled as a mentor and leader at Centene, touching the lives of her colleagues with her vibrant spirit.

To know Mae was to know her love for celebrating others and a good party. She was the ultimate t-shirt designer, party idea maker, and event planner. She often used her special talents and deep care for others to plan and host memorable gatherings. Known for leaving a trail of glitter on every desk she touched, she left a sparkle in the hearts of all who knew her. Outside of work, Mae found joy in being a "momager" for all things D'Asia, cheering on her nephews at football games, watching crime documentaries, managing her social groups, and indulging in her love for Amazon shopping.

Mae was also an active member of New Millennium Community Church, where she recommitted her life to the Lord on February 25th, 2024, through baptism alongside her brother, brother-in-love, nephews, and niece. Mae peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. She will be remembered for her loyalty, laughter, and limitless love for family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories Daughter: D'Asia James, Mother: Eunice Toledo, Father: Samuel I. Sandy, Brother: Javier R.
