Homegoing services for Mrs. Willie Mae James, who passed away, Friday, April 2, 2010, will be held at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 E. Columbus Drive, Saturday, April 10th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. James was born to the union of Mr. Lumb and Addie Pace who preceded her in death along with her son Willie James "Buddy" Green; daughter, Geraldine "Boot" Pierce; son-in-law, James Brown and grand-daugthter, Agony Crawford. Mrs. James was born on March 31, 1919 in Lee County, Georgia and attended school in Sumpter County and Hillsborough County Riverside Senior Center. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. She relocated to Tampa, Florida, she became a member of the Mt. Zion M.B. Church which later became New Mt. Zion. She loved to cook, fish, and take anyone into her home that needed assistance. She never met a stranger her doors were always open to help people in need. She gave unconditional love to her children and "God" children of which she had quite a few. She cherished times spent with her family especially on cook-outs. She also instilled in her children to respect others regardless of their status in life. Her warm smile, sparkling eyes and words of wisdom, encouragement and joy she portrayed will be solely missed. Her dreams to one day own a home with a front porch of which she achieves in her lifetime. She leaves to cherish memories with five daughters: Ernestine "Bunchy" Brown of Leslie, GA, Rosa Williams, Verdell Mickens, Shirley James and Denise (Archester) Newsome, all of Tampa, Florida; 25 grandchildren, James Gordon (Yvonne), Kenneth Gordon, Deborah Law (Joe) of Leslie, GA, Elton Brown (Dianna), Henton Brown (Stacey) of Jacksonville, FL, Charles Brown (Tracey), Teresa Clark (Charlie), Yolanda Smith (Michael) and Cornelia Brown of Americus, GA, Samantha Akinnubi (Peter) of Albany, GA, Calvin Pierce (Catresia) Bartow, Fl, , David Williams (Nellie), Rita Williams, Don Carlos Williams of Baltimore, MD, Veronica Jones (Sidney Jr.), Sharon Simpson, Patricia Pierce, Reginald Pierce, Fredrick (Mary) Brown, Alvin Brown, Otis Green, Daryl Lewis, Calvin (Angela) Green, Sholette Saunders (Carl), Shombie Harris, Morris Harris, Sabrina Mickens (Frank), Jacquelyn and Victor Mann, all of Tampa, FL; 89 great grandchildren; 64 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Maudie Marshall of Tampa, FL; 4 nephews, Donald (Andrea) Marshall of Cleveland, OH, Bernard, Curtis, John (Sarah) Marshall; 2 nieces, Linda Lyles and Brenda Buster, all of Tampa, FL; 3 god-daughters, Earline Williams, MaCay Williams and Janice Jackson; special friends, Corine Jackson, Anthony Diggs, Dennis Johnson, Carolyn Scott and Jessie Stuckey; and a host of sorrowing cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; special thanks to Hospice and the Ruby Team and Nurses Digna and Lenore. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, Friday, April 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church by 10:45 a.m. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
