Willie Mae
Jaudon
September 18, 1940 – April 24, 2025
Mrs. Jaudon was born on September 18, 1940. Mrs. Jaudon attended schools in Dooly County, GA and later moved to the Tampa Bay area. She worked at Lawrence's Truck Stop and later became owner of the business for many years, making it a place where her family members worked at one time or another and where many of her nieces and nephews received their first job opportunity. Before the rise of the Channelside District, this "mom and pop" restaurant located at 1002 E. Platt Street was the breakfast and lunch hotspot for many longshoremen, Tribune workers, and others of the surrounding community. She was a faithful member of Evening Star Tabernacle M. B. Church, where she often led songs and enjoyed singing alongside her sisters. Even throughout her illness, she praised God continuously and enjoyed listening to old school gospel daily. During her earlier years at the church she started a thriving Angel Choir for the youth, held positions as the superintendent of Sunday School and president of the Number One choir, and was a faithful member of the Longshoremen's Association alongside her husband, Deacon Robert McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Deacon Robert McDonald, Willie C. Davis, and Thomas "Red" Jaudon; mother, Emma Lester; father, Johnny Felton, Sr.; brothers, Johnny Felton, Jr., Eddie Felton, and Henry Felton; and sisters, Beulah Felton, Carolyn Amaker and Nellie Sheppard.
She is survived by her sisters, Marilyn Short, Johnnie Mae Collins (Tony), Iradene Burch, and Lillie Brown; six nieces, thirteen nephews; godchildren, Alfreida Fountain Tarpley and Sandra Tisdale; and family caregivers who cared for her tirelessly for the last few years, her sisters, Marilyn Short, Johnnie Mae Collins, and Iradene Burch; and nieces, Dr. Theresa Lewis and MeLisa Burch; special nephew/son, Willie "Lito" Felton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
